There’s a lot of competition in the supermini segment, so it’s a tough task to gain a strong foothold. Toyota have done that with the Aygo. It’s a lovely city car that is great to drive, look at, and has tonnes of personality. There’s good space for passengers and plenty of room in the boot considering the size of the car. You can increase that by folding the seats. In keeping with the design on the outside, the cabin is modern and comfortable. The dashboard has been recessed to make more room, and has a cool, simple layout. As it’s a Toyota, the materials used feel really good quality and hard wearing. On the road, the Aygo is fun to drive with the sharp steering, excellent handling, and firm-ish ride all contributing. The small dimensions mean it’s easy to manoeuvre so it wouldn’t be a bad starting point for learner drivers.
